A mature husband and wife, Pauline 47, and Len 50 are facing a life-changing event. She is now, for the first time, pregnant. She is delighted. He is adamantly against it. She turns to advice from friends and her single sister. He turns to his father but old resentments surface. Len tries to escape the problem facing him and concentrates on his filmmaking project, a documentary on the bonding of identical twins. But this only brings him back to the decisions he must face. He meets and interviews Claire, 25, whose twin sister was murdered. He finds an emotional connection, an entanglement with Claire. Len also had a deep loss, he had a twin brother who died at childbirth.
